In today’s technology obsessed world, where you’re never truly free or alone, it’s a great idea to consider creating a relaxing, technology free zone. Where you’ll be able to enjoy simple, relaxing pleasures such as reading a book in a cozy spot or listening to music. If you have trouble sleeping at night, you might like the idea of turning your bedroom into a tech free zone. Which should help you switch your mind off, when it’s time to go to sleep each night. Alternatively you may want to create a reading nook in the corner of one of your rooms, using a simple screen based partition.

Display items which genuinely make you happy:

Instead of displaying items around your home, which you think will impress other people, it’s a far better idea to display items around your home, which genuinely make you happy. As an example, you may prefer hanging photos of your favorite places in the world in your lounge, instead of expensive pieces of art work, which don’t bring you any pleasure. Alternatively, if you love travel, you may want to display some of your favorite souvenirs from your trips on the shelves of an empty bookcase.

If you fill your home with items that bring a smile to your face, you should find that you’re far happier. As the items which you choose to place in your home and your home’s aesthetic can have a huge effect on your mood.

Avoid having a home which is too cluttered:

Recent scientific studies have shown that most individuals are far happier in homes which feature purposefully chosen items and are not cluttered. As clutter can actually stress you out. So be sure to give your home a spring clean, a couple of times per year. To ensure that you only keep items which you use on a weekly basis or which continue to bring joy to your life.

Create a relaxing outdoor space to spend time in:

If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, a patio, a porch or a deck, it’s well worth creating a relaxing, outdoor space, which you’ll be able to unwind in after a long day at work. As an example, you may want to place a pagoda, a gazebo or a park bench in your garden, where you’ll be able to sunbathe or read a book on a long summer day. Or you might want to place a small table and chairs on your deck, where you’ll be able to enjoy informal meals with your loved ones. As spending time outdoors on a regular basis, can help improve your mood and bring joy to your life.
